ROSAT

A German orbiting X-ray astronomy observatory, with participation by NASA and the UK Science and Engineering Research Council. It was launched successfully in 1990. It carried a large X-ray imaging telescope for an all-sky survey and a wide-field camera operating in the XUV region, which bridges the X-ray and extreme ultraviolet regions of the spectrum.
